Today, in the town of Ocotepec, Morelos, the Movement for Peace with Justice and Dignity (MPJD) began the commemoration of the second anniversary of its birth with the planting of a magnolia tree symbolizing the reincarnation of a murdered woman.

The organization arose after the murder of Juan Francisco Sicilia Ortega, son of poet Javier Sicilia, and five other people in Cuernavaca, the state capital.

After the tree planting, the poet and MPJD members went to the city plaza where, at the entrance of the presidential palace in front of a public altar dedicated to the victims of violence, they recalled the history of the organization.

At 5:00 PM today, the main event of this anniversary will be held at the Stela of Light in Mexico City. There they will read poems, hear the testimonies of victims of violence, display handkerchiefs embroidered to honor the missing and unveil a plaque.

At the event, the poet Sicilia will ask the Mexican government to convert the monument into the Stela of the Peace, so that it may be a memorial dedicated to the victims.
