Cars go to the junkyard and we will recycle them to create the most efficient, ecological and healthy means of transportation. Bicycled, the bike made out of car parts. An eco project that wants to become a reality for a better future. (Lola Madrid)
Lola Madrid is a Spanish creative agency that's gaining steam with a new line of upcycled bikes. Aptly named Bicycled, the concept itself may not be revolutionary, but its source material is pretty provocative. The company uses old junkyard cars to make all of its custom bikes.
Car handles become handle bars, interior upholstery becomes a bicycle seat and turn signals become safety lights. Because no junkyard car is the same, none of Bicycled final products are the same either.
Aside from the artistry involved, what's particularly beautiful about the project is that it takes former gas guzzling cars and turns them into mechanisms for clean, sustainable transportation.
While Bicycled may be too small an operation to make a large dent in the mass of car parts currently taking up landfill space, at the very least the company's determination to recycle as much of that waste as it can is a level of personal accountability that's not seen in business often enough.
