Three million Mexican children and adolescents are exploited, work under dangerous situations with low pay and even without wages, the newspaper Informador reports.
Some of them are five years old, others are already teenagers, but in Mexico three million children are exploited, the newspaper said in its website, which takes up a National Survey of Occupation and Employment of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).
The source said that in 2009 the number of children involved was 3.2 million and two years later is three million, and added of that figure more than 39 percent of the children left school or never attended.
Working children survive in dangerous situations, work extensive journeys for a few coins or anything in the fields picking vegetables or the mines in Coahuila, as porters in street markets and even in construction, the Informador explained.
On the same subject, the Council to prevent and eliminate discrimination in Mexico City (COPRED) notes that, according to the Human Rights Program of the Federal District in Mexico City, there are no official data on child labor and labor exploitation.
Instead, it said, it is well known that children are employed in domestic work or subject to sexual exploitation, trafficking and forced labor.
COPRED also criticizes the absence of laws and public policies for children under international standards.
