Mexico’s economy is expected to grow much faster than the U.S. economy in 2013, according to eight economists surveyed quarterly by the University of Texas at El Paso.

Economists from both Mexico and the United States in a consensus forecast say Mexico’s economic output should grow 3.4 percent in 2013, while most U.S. economists see a projected growth rate of the U.S. economy at 2 percent, the El Paso Times reported.

According to a report from Wells Fargo Securities, the U.S. economy grew 2.7 percent in the third quarter of 2012, the Times said.

The peso is expected to have an annual exchange rate of 12.98 pesos per dollar in 2013, the paper reported. The exchange rate has been running at about 13 pesos per dollar in recent weeks.
