VoIP Review, an authority on VoIP and telecom, has released their picks for the best providers with low prices on international calling to Mexico.

With the holidays just around the corner, everyone likes to call around and wish friends and family members a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. With a VoIP service, customers can make affordable phone calls to areas like Mexico, one of the most popular locations for international phoning, without racking up outrageous charges this holiday season.

Traditional phone companies like AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon may charge around $0.49 per minute to call Mexico on a standard plan. That’s almost a $10.00 call for just twenty minutes spent on the line.

VoIP services like Axvoice, on the other hand, charge as little as $0.0253 a minute for a call to Mexico with even the most basic residential phone plan. For a twenty minute phone call to Mexico with this plan, users would pay around $0.50.

VoIP services manage to charge lower rates for international phone calls to locations such as Mexico because with a VoIP provider, the voice data travels almost entirely over the Internet rather than a traditional phone line. Using the Internet to transmit this kind of data is cheaper because users don’t need to pay the extra fees associated with using the landline network.
