MEXICO CITY - The Mexican president, Enrique Peña Nieto, has presented the National Human Rights Award to Father Alejandro Solalinde for his work in defense of migrants.

Pena Nieto congratulated Father Dolalinde for his noble work done every day for those who travel by Mexican soil.

He said the Hermanos del Camino shelter that is led by Solalinde, is a clear example of support and solidarity to those people, primarily from Central America.

During the ceremony held at the official residence of Los Pinos, the president announced that in the coming days he will send Congress a package of reforms and various initiatives to strengthen human rights.

He added that Mexico, like all countries, has an obligation to defend human rights, and to work to eliminate discrimination and social exclusion.
