Latina film star Salma Hayek lit up the red carpet at one of Mexico's premiere film events last weekend.

The actress was at the closing ceremony of the Acapulco Film Festival on Friday and arrived in a dark pink dress which perfectly accentuated her full figure.

The 46-year-old was back in her home country to show her support for Mexico's domestic film industry, where she started off before making it big in Hollywood films such as Desperado.

Her Desperado and Puss in Boots co-star, Antonio Banderas, had inaugurated the festival on November 24 when he attended the opening ceremony with his wife, American actress Melanie Griffith.

Salma travelled to the Mexican city alone while her husband, French billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault, stayed in Europe.

The Mexican-American film star had stopped off in London to attend the British Fashion Awards before travelling on to her home country.

One of the oldest of Mexico's beach resorts, Acapulco came to prominence in the 1950s as a getaway for Hollywood stars and American millionaires.

It is probably better-known now as being the 'spring break' destination of choice for US college students, attracted by the lower drinking age in Mexico.
