MEXICO CITY - Mexico's new President Enrique Pena Nieto Sunday said boosting sports will be a priority for his government, after he presented the 2012 National Sports Award (PND) to the soccer national team, the champions in London 2012 Olympic Games.
During his first official event in Los Pinos official residence, one day after he assumed power, the new Mexican president affirmed that the goal of his public policies on sports is to "move Mexico."
Pena Nieto announced the creation of High-Performance Sports Centers in the 32 states of Mexico, so that the people can practice physical activities, because he said the population should be prepared "physically and mentally" for "the country's new stage."
"Mexico has potential in many fields and that is what we aim, to show the world that Mexico can face any challenge," said the Mexican President in a brief speech.
