Mexico's next head of state, Enrique Peña Nieto, will meet with U.S. President Barack Obama on Nov. 27 to review the bilateral agenda.
"The meeting (with Obama) will be on Tuesday, the 27th, and I announce that there will be a meeting on November 28 with the prime minister of Canada, Stephen Harper, on what will be a very quick tour through North America, days before the inauguration of President Peña Nieto," the head of the president-elect's transition team, Luis Videgaray, told Radio Formula.
Peña Nieto is due to take office Dec. 1.
Videgaray also referred in the interview to Tuesday's victories in several U.S. states of ballot initiatives to decriminalize marijuana and said that Peña Nieto's position is against the legalization of any drug.
"We're attentive to these important modifications, which change the rules of the game with the United States and which must lead us to review the joint policies against drug trafficking," he said.
"We cannot say that drugs are produced in Mexico and it is the responsibility of Mexicans to stop them, not put the blame on consumers," Videgaray said.
He confirmed that in all markets supply and demand are inseparable and they have to be faced with a mindset of shared responsibility and with clear objectives.
Mexican cartels supply a large proportion of the illegal drugs consumed in the United States.
