Mexican President Felipe Calderón participated in the Cozumel Cycling Event, during which he cycled 65 kilometers along the recently-opened Cycle Path of the Perimeter Highway of the city, together with a group of cyclists.

President Calderón was accompanied by a group of high-yield sportsman, including a selection of Olympic cyclists.

As he did in June during the Baja Bike 150 event in Baja California Sur, the president promoted sports as a key element in Mexicans’ integration and social development.

Cozumel’s Perimeter Highway will be part of the international Ironman Competition, a long-distance triathlon to be held on 25 November to contribute to the range of tourist events available in the area.

The president was accompanied by Secretary of Communications and Transport Dionisio Pérez-Jácome and Director General of the National Commission of Physical Culture and Sport, Bernardo de la Garza Herrera.
