The five sitting and elected governors from Mexico's leftist Party of the Democratic Revolution, or PRD, said they planned to attend the Dec. 1 inauguration of Enrique Peña Nieto.
The governor-elect of Morelos state, Graco Ramirez, said this week that the governors would attend the inauguration even though leftist presidential candidate Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador refuses to accept Peña Nieto's victory.
Ramirez made the announcement during a meeting with Peña Nieto at a Mexico City hotel.
The meeting was "fruitful" and the goal is to work together to develop and strengthen Mexico, Ramirez said.
"We have made the decision to attend the Dec. 1 inauguration of Enrique Peña Nieto at the San Lazaro Legislative Palace," Ramirez told reporters.
Peña Nieto also met with Guerrero Gov. Angel Aguirre, Oaxaca Gov. Gabino Cue and the governor-elects of Tabasco, Arturo Nuñez, and the Federal District, Miguel Mancera, in an effort to set political differences aside and get everyone to work together.
