It took only two minutes for the green-clad crowd at BBVA Compass Stadium to fill the air with loud chants of "Mexico! Mexico! Mexico!" Friday night.

But the party didn't really get started for Mexico and its fans until the 78th minute, when Andres Guardado scored from 25 yards out to give El Tri the first of its five goals in an eight-minute span.

It took longer than the crowd of 12,115 wanted, but Mexico finally took control with a tremendous assault to beat Guyana 5-0 in a CONCACAF Group B World Cup qualifying match. By the end of the match, most of the crowd was singing Cielito Lindo.

Less than two minutes after he gave Mexico a 1-0 lead, Guardado got the ball down the left wing and slipped a pass to Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez. Then Hernandez passed to Oribe Peralta, who made it 2-0.

It became 3-0 on Charles Pollard's own goal. In the 85th minute, the crowd finally got what it wanted when Guardado crossed the ball so Hernandez could head it in for a goal. Angel Reyna made it 5-0 with a rocket from 30 yards out in the 86th minute.
