Good news: The U.S. is not conspiring with Mexico to invade Canada.

That’s according to State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland, who took a tongue-in-cheek question about a Canadian invasion during the daily press briefing Tuesday.

Nuland had been asked why a signing ceremony with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Mexico Foreign Minister Patricia Espinosa was not open to the press.

“This isn’t some secret thing to invade Canada or something like that?” the reporter asked.

“No, no, no,” Nuland said as the journalists laughed. “It’s not anything classified.”

That should come as a relief to the Canadian military — and to fans of the animated show “South Park,” who saw a U.S.-Canada war become a bloody quagmire in the movie “Bigger, Longer & Uncut.”
