Mexicans Rally for Femicide Victims on Day of the Dead Reuters

Demonstrators carried white crosses with the names of the victims and banners with their photographs and information from the city’s iconic Zocalo square to a roundabout where activists created a monument made up of two crosses in honor of disappeared women.

There, mothers and other family members wrote the names of their murdered or missing females relatives.

Many of the demonstrators said they had been waiting for justice for years with no response from the authorities.

In 2022, 3,765 women were murdered in Mexico – an average of ten per day – according to Amnesty International.
