The president of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador responded last Saturday to the inhabitants of the Sierra del Nayar that they themselves could build the roads paved because “it is not much science”, after the traditional governors asked for his help to improve the roads of the area.

The President Lopez Obrador told them, at an event during his tour of Nayaritthat the roads could be built by the inhabitants of the communities, as they have done in at least 300 municipalities of Oaxaca.

“Make them yourselves, it is to make the path like this, concretely, it is not much science. In the communities there are very good masons and teachers. Civil engineers can be found. And they began to make the roads (in oaxaca), we have already finished about 170, roads made by the same people, of concrete, which are like works of art (…) this is how the roads could be made here in the Sierra del Nayar“, told them.

The president said that the federal government will put the budget and that, in coordination with the governor of the entity, the residents can build the roads. “But that people be given work, that it not be like before when a company was given a contract,” he said.

Moments before, the traditional governor of Jesús María, Martin Valentin Vargasasked the president to channel resources to pave the roads in the region, as well as a clinic for the inhabitants, who currently must move to Tepiccapital of Nayaritto receive medical care.

“We want to pave the roads because there are many roads that are in poor condition and we would like them to be rehabilitated,” Martín Valentín Vargas told him.

Regarding the problems in receiving medical attention, the traditional governor told the president that it is necessary to guarantee the supply of medicines, as well as the presence of personnel to attend to them.

“Here we still have that problem that patients are channeled to Tepic and we would like them to be attended to here (…) you bring the key to that padlock that we have closed there. And you have that possibility, rather that commitment, to support those needs that we have here in the Sierra del Nayar“, said.
