About 1,600 brigade members from the Social Development Secretariat have conducted a census of homeless population 2017, in 16 delegations of Mexico City, was announced here today.

The operation included the observation of officials of the Human Rights Commission of Mexico City and the accompaniment of the Council to Prevent and Eliminate Discrimination, as well as the support of the Secretariat of Labor and Employment Promotion.

José Ramón Amieva, head of the Social Development Secretariat, noted that the census represents an exercise in social justice, which will make it possible to know if public policies for the full reintegration of street people are adequate.

The census results will be released in the coming days.
