Musicians from across the globe play at US-Mexico border wall in protest (Ruptly TV)

Members of a German symphony orchestra have performed at a 'Tear Down This Wall' concert along the US-Mexico border, protesting US President Donald Trump's plan to build a wall along the border between the two countries.

Six musicians from the Dresden orchestra participated in the performance. Around 700 people were in attendance for Saturday night's concert, which opened with a performance by a local youth orchestra.

The Dresden Symphony Orchestra originally wanted to hold a free performance simultaneously on both sides of the border between San Diego, California, and Tijuana.

Mexican authorities approved, but US authorities said no, so the Germans held the concert only on the Tijuana side.

During the Saturday concert a group of around a dozen Trump supporters waved US flags and chanted their support for the wall's construction.

The concert, which also featured a number of local and US musicians, was a protest against Trump's plans to build a border wall, which he says is necessary to stop drug smuggling and illegal migration from Mexico into the US.

... 'Tear down this wall' is a quotation from president Ronald Reagan's 1987 speech at the Berlin wall.
