At least 44 women journalists or activists from civil organizations have been killed in Mexico since 2010, according to reports.

Among the victims is Miriam Elizabeth Rodriguez, the mother of a young woman who was reported missing and whose body was found in a common grave, and who was murdered in Tamaqulipas on May 10, when the country was celebrating Mother's Day.

A study by the National Network of Human Rights Advocates says that Chihuahua is one of the states where more assassinations of women from the two guilds have been reported, as Josefina Reyes, Marisela Escobedo, María Isabel Cordero Martínez, María Magdalena Reyes and Luisa Ornelas were executed there 2010.

Other victims were Miroslava Breach, in March 2010; Susana Chávez, in 2011, and Manuela Martha Solís, in 2012.

Another state where activists and journalists have been assassinated systematically is Guerrero.

Other assassinations have been reported in the states of Mexico, Oaxaca, Sinaloa, Michoacán, Puebla, Veracruz, Hidalgo, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas and Mexico City.
