CDMX Government Is Extending Its Involvement in Child Protection in the Capital Notimex

The Mexico City government has published amendments to the Rights of Children and Adolescents in Mexico City Law, which expands the government’s functions and measures they can take to ensure protection for this sector of society.

In a first decree published in the Official Gazette, the Mexico City government decided to integrate a legislative body into the protection system.

It explained that this body will be made up of the Child Development, Budget, Public Accounts and Treasury commissions.

The Mexico City government also announced changes to article 111 of the aforementioned law, related to the functions of Special Prosecutor’s Office for Protection, created to achieve effective protection and restitution of the rights of children and teenagers.

The Prosecutor’s Office is part of the Mexico City Family Development Agency (DIF-CDMX), which will provide it with the necessary resources to fulfill its objectives.

Both decrees take effect Saturday May 13.
