The Government of Mexico Contributes 23 Tons of Humanitarian Aid to Peru Andina

The Government of Mexico this week delivered over 23 tons of food supplies to Peru as part of relief efforts for Coastal-El-Niño-related disaster victims.

Relief comprises pulses, pasta and canned tuna for families affected by recent heavy rains, floods and landslides in the Inca nation.

The donation was handed over by Mexican Ambassador to Peru Ernesto Campos Tenorio and adds to previous support by the Aztec nation.

Mexico had already sent a 36-strong rescue brigade to Peru's northern — and worst-hit — areas.

"It is a pleasure for me to present this contribution from the Government of Mexico, through the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation [AMEXCID], for victims facing a hard situation. Our hearts are with them," he told State-run TV Peru station.

The diplomat also conveyed the solidarity of the people and government of Mexico, as well as hopes for an end to the emergency.
