Bolivian President Evo Morales invited Mexico to rejoin the Group of 77 plus China and help build the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, CELAC.

Morales made his proposals to Mexico in a Twitter post, hoping to counter U.S. President Donald Trump's plan to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexican border.

"I invite Mexico to return to the G77 and together we will strengthen CELAC. United we will be a power whose diversity will build world solidarity," Morales tweeted.

The Bolivian leader said that although Mexico was geographically in the north, it would "always be in the south" for the United States.

"Our family is in the south," Morales said. Bolivia held the presidency of the G77 in 2014, with Ecuador now having that honor.
