The national leadership of the Work Party (PT) warned about the imminent privatization of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) and the risk it implies today for the health of Mexicans.
There are 71 million affiliates to this institution, PT said. Oscar Gonzalez and Ricardo Cantu, members of the National Coordinating Commission and Magdalena Nunez, political commissar of the PT in the capital, warned about the risk that IMSS privatization represents for thousands of families.
They considered, in a press conference, that the situation is very worrying as the health of 60 percent of the population depends on the Institute, while over 60 percent of those who work there will be laid off.
At present, 10 thousand of the 410 thousand workers of the entity were dismissed, indicated the PT.
For his part, Ismael Bautista, representative of the personnel working at the Institute, denounced that privatization is progressive.
He also said another program affected is IMSS Prospera, where 12 million persons are registered from rural zones throughout the country.
