Watch these Mexican politicians gleefully whack a Donald Trump piñata (El Poder TV)

It seems “Trump bashing” has been taken to a whole new level.

Some politicians in Mexico had some fun with a piñata of President-elect Donald Trump on Thursday night, when members of the leftist Party of Democratic Revolution celebrated Christmas by beating on a piñata caricature of Trump.

As seen in the video above, party leader Sen. Miguel Barbosa can be heard asking attendees to give a “salute to Donald.” The crowd replied by giving a chant of “eeeh puto!” which is a chant popularized by fans of Mexican soccer teams, who often chant it as opposing team’s goalies. While there is some dispute over the exact wording of "puto," some have equated it to the homophobic slur of ‘faggot’ while others claim it more closely translates to "coward."

Regardless, the party went along. As the video shows, a few people can be seen given the chance to whack at the Trump piñata, much to the clear amusement of the crowd. When the piñata finally broke, more cheers erupted.

Barbosa defended his party's activities in an interview, claiming it was done in a light-hearted nature.
