So far this year, more than 3,000 foreign migrants have been placed in the custody of migratory stations in Baja California, and half of them come from the United States. The other half are from Central American, China and Armenia reported the representative of the National Migration Institute, Rodulfo Figueroa Pacheco.

He said that work has increased four to five fold when compared to prior years, as in 2012 the total number of people without documents was 700.

He said that most of these people found in this situation in Baja California are men, "except for the Guatemalans, where the number of families is higher."

The INM representative said that the most common flow is from China, as Baja California is the only place in Mexico, other than Mexico City, where there is a consulate for the People's Republic of China.

Figueroa Pacheco added that they process around 11,500 migratory applications per year in the entire state, and estimated that some 40% are new migrants, while the remainder are people already in Mexico.
