Noise represents one of the chief complaints in Mexico City (Mexico News Daily)

Noise is the second environmental crime with highest amount of reports to the Environmental and Territorial Planning Department of Mexico City for 13 years, the Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana (UAM) reports.

UAM said in a statement that noise is a public health problem, the solution of which needs the participation of the community, the schools and the authorities.

Speakers of a Round-table organized during the International Seminar on Environmental Noise and Health in the City, held at UAM, said that it is necessary to implement State policies aimed at solving this problem.

Jimena de Gortari, scholar from the Department of Architecture of Universidad Iberoamericana, said that noise does not discriminate, it affects health and is caused by all.
