Here on Fw:Thinking we’ve talked a lot about some pretty disruptive ideas. 3D printing. Artificial intelligence. Automation. These ideas have the potential to revolutionize our world. But revolutions aren’t necessarily known for being smooth and painless.

One of the big questions left to answer is how will we make a living in a world where more of our work is left to the cold, robotic hands of automated machinery? The robots aren’t exactly poised to displace everyone tomorrow but that day is coming. So what then? How do we make ends meet? How do we buy the things we want or have the experiences we dream about?

In a previous episode, we explored the idea of a future without money. But that future will require some pretty huge changes in the way we live. Between now and then, another possibility is basic income.
