Mexico's economy expanded in the third quarter after contracting in the previous three months, preliminary data from the statistical office INEGI showed Monday.
Gross domestic product grew a seasonally adjusted 1 percent from the second quarter, when the output fell 0.2 percent. Economists had forecast 0.8 percent expansion.
Primary sector logged 1.2 growth, while output in the secondary sector declined 0.1 percent. The tertiary sector grew 1.5 percent.
Seasonally adjusted annual growth was 1.9 percent in the third quarter versus 1.4 percent in the previous three months.
On an unadjusted basis, the economy grew an unadjusted 2 percent compared to 2.4 percent in the previous quarter. Economists had forecast 1.9 percent growth.
