Farmers Ask for Their Rights Outside Mexican Senate Prensa Latina

Hundreds of farmers from all around the country joined a protest march through Mexico City, Friday (Ruptly TV)

Members of the National Indigenous Farmers' Caravan, made up of various organizations in the country, arrived yesterday at the headquarters of the Senate in Mexico City to ask for their rights to the land and the natural resources.

With banners, flags and slogans like 'Zapata vive, la lucha sigue' (Zapata lives, the struggle continues), farmers from across the country gathered outside the Senate building to deplore the Government´s faults.

Julio Cesar Gonzalez, secretary general of Central Campesina Cardenista in the state of San Luis Potosi told the Prensa Latina news agency during an interview that one of the goals is the opposition to the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement.

'This treaty will bring us deeper into misery' he said.

...There are also farmers in this caravan, which began a few days ago its journey in different states, outside the Ministry of Finance, the National Human Rights Commission and the Chamber of Deputies', he said.
