Mexico’s first and only over-the-ocean suites are officially open in Riviera Maya.

The new Palafitos got their first guests this month at the adults-only El Dorado Maroma, a beachfront resort by Karisma. Surrounded by the turquoise waters of Maroma Beach, the overwater suites “offer discerning travelers a once-in-a-lifetime getaway in paradise” says Karisma Hotels & Resorts. “No longer do you have to travel across the world to experience such accommodations.”

The 30 overwater suites have glass-bottom floors, direct ladder access to the ocean, outdoor ‘Aguas del Amor’ showers, private infinity pools and oversized decks with lounge chairs that look out onto the ocean horizon. Guests can also stay at sea while enjoying dining at the Over Water Ocean Grill & Wine Bar, and spa treatments at Náay Spa Over the Ocean.

Rates start at $950 per adult, per night, including Karisma’s Gourmet Inclusive Experience.
