Almost nine thousand Mexicans applied to the United States for asylum last year, saying they feared for their lives. But only 124 were actually granted the right to live in the U-S. Adam Raney spoke to one man on the Mexico-US border, who says his life depends on escaping his country. (Al Jazeera English)

From September, 2015 to June, 2016, 181,463 Mexicans were deported from the United States through 11 points on the northern border and the International Airport in Mexico City. 9.6% were women, 90.4% men. Of the total, 10,007, or 5.5% were minors.

In another matter, through the Legal Assistance Program for capital crimes cases in the United States, Mexico has attended to 185 cases and prevented the death sentence in 32 of them.

Additionally, there were 3,400 Mexicans who were given legal advice within the Legal Assistance Program in the United States.

From September, 2015 to June 2016, Mexican consulates in the United States attended to 169,476 cases of protection and consular assistance in the areas of human rights, criminal, migration, civil, labor and administration. Of this total, 165,612 were reported by the Mexican Consular Network in the United States.
