Mexico is set to add around 20 million internet users over the next four years to reach 84 million by 2020, according to the president of the country's Electronics, Telecommunications and IT Chamber of Commerce (CANIETI) Mario de la Cruz, reports business daily El Financiero.

Speaking at CANIETI’s annual convention, De la Cruz said mobile traffic is set to surge by 800 percent and fixed network traffic by 200 percent during the period, with the number of connected devices reaching 369 million.

He added that it was vital to continue to create public policies that encourage investment and that cybersecurity should be a priority because less than 15 percent of Latin America’s telecommunications infrastructure is currently safe.
