Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto pledged to review, with the Congress, the current model of care for victims of crime, which today is more beneficial for perpetrators.

Equity for justice to see that justice is done, said the leader in the opening of the International Forum: Equity for Victims in Due Process in which he considered the current system ineffective, a system to which those who suffer attacks in the country have to appeal.

Peña Nieto intervened in the forum of the organization Stop Kidnapping, where he received an initiative to reformulate the current General Law on Victims, which he promised to boost changes on to make it fairer.

We need to review the model we have, he insisted, and we are lucky Mexico was one of the countries with a model of general care for victims, which did not exist in other parts of the world.

Today we must improve it for its proper function, he pointed out.

However, the current system is criticized by human rights organizations, especially for the impunity and the poor work of the judiciary power.
