The 27th Pastors for Peace Caravan traveled to Cuba this week, composed of 41 activists showing solidarity with the Cuban people. The contingent is comprised of Americans, Europeans and Mexicans led by Gail Walker.

She is the executive director of Pastors for Peace and the daughter of the late Reverend Lucius Walker. Lucius Walker founded the Caravan in 1992.

Gail Walker told Prensa Latina that although the relationship between the United States and Cuba is normalizing, the economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba continues to affect the lives of Cubans.

She stated that she felt a lot of love and respect for the Cuban Revolution, because its strength lies in always putting the people first.

“This project is not only about my father or me, this is a community that participates in any region of the United States, Mexico, Central America, Europe, and around the world,” she said.

“The caravan comes to Havana with a cargo of medicines, after raising awareness in several communities about the effects of the blockade on the Caribbean island,” she added.
