New federal justice center in Oaxaca (Mexico News Daily)
On Thursday, the Federal Judiciary Council (FJC) launched six judicial centers for the new criminal justice system, the last that were pending for federal crimes. The new centers will serve the states of Tamaulipas, Baja California, Jalisco and Guerrero.
These centers are in addition to the 31 already operating in 28 states and Mexico City, where the new system has been operating for federal crimes since 2014.
For his part, Counselor Alfonso Pérez Dazán, member of the Federal Judiciary Council, reported that on June 18 the Judiciary will initiate implementation of the new system of criminal justice with 181 chambers [courtrooms] for oral proceedings in criminal matters and with 118 judges specialized in this area.
Pérez Dazán, during his participation in the closing ceremony of the Eighth National Forum on Security and Justice, added that the majority of Criminal Justice Center constructed in the last three years were built on land donated by the state governments of Guanajuato, Querétaro, Aguascalientes, Yucatán, Hidalgo, Chiapas, Coahuila, Baja California and Mexico state [borders Mexico City, horseshoe-like, East-North-West].
According to information provided by the FJC, Criminal Justice Centers will be located in Reynosa and Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas; and in Tijuana and Mexicali, Baja California. Other centers were installed in Acapulco, Guerrero, and in the Puente Grande prison complex in Jalisco state.
