The Jungle Book / Sarabande - Mayan Style (ThePianoGuys)

The talented American musicians who have won millions of admirers thanks to social networks have launched their latest music video. It is a Mayan-style rendering of “Sarabande”, inspired by the "The Jungle Book" movie, shot on location in Xcaret, Quintana Roo and Chichén Itzá, Yucatan, Mexico.

A few days after sharing the video on their YouTube channels, the production had already registered 716,000 views. The video shows the pianist Jon Schmidt and the cellist Steven Sharp Nelson playing their instruments in the jungle, inside an incredible river and within a Mayan village, through spectacular shots.

The decision to mix jazz, classical music and Mayan acoustics based on "Sarabande" by George Frideric Händel resulted in a masterpiece.

“The Mayans were an incredible people, astronomers, builders and craftsmen unprecedented, incomparable. Their ability to use the architecture in an acoustic manner is impressive", said The Piano Guys in reference to their presentation of this work.
The river and jungle scenes were filmed at Xcaret Paradise River and the “island" of the Mayan Village of Xcaret, where pre-Hispanic musicians accompanied The Piano Guys. Xcaret is a fun-filled family park built right in the middle of the jungle that immerses visitors in the culture and nature of Mexico.

Chichén Itzá scenes were filmed around “El Castillo,” or the Kukulkan Temple, probably the most famous building of the pre-Hispanic architectural ensemble.
