In Mexico the prejudice towards breastfeeding in public has made 64% of mothers not breastfeed. Since Mexico is last place for breastfeeding rates in Latin America, Unicef needed to throw a spotlight on this problem and provoke Mexican society to change prejudice into awareness. So, to promote breatfeeding Unicef created a no-breastfeeding campaign in 2015 - #YesToBreastfeed - and it worked. (Unicef Mexico)

One hundred mothers breast fed their children on the main campus of the Plaza Galerías, in Zapopan, in response to a call to come together on the social networks to show solidarity with Catalina Torres, who was tossed out by a security guard recently when she breast fed her son in that shopping center.

The call, "The world is my nursery" circulated on the social networks, and dozens of women responded to the call, and now without any problems, nursed their babies in front of the dismay of many visitors to the location who were unaware of the demonstration.

Last May 9, Catalina Torres went out with her six month old baby. "It was my first time out in six months, to be turned around," she recalled.

"We arrived at Galerias, I was carrying the baby, but he started to cry, and I told my mother, 'He's hungry,'" They both sat on a bench near a fast food business.

She said she was covered with blanket bade for a special cloth so the baby could breathe without problems. However, minutes later, a security guard approached to say she could not feed the baby there." She replied, "Who told you I was feeding the baby?"

The guard said, "Let's see, show me," and she refused and the guard said "You cannot feed the baby here, I have to ask you to leave."

Catalina said she is not doing anything which is prohibited, however, the private security guard took her by the arm and put her in the street. She asked for help, but no when helped her.
