Maria de los Angeles Fromow Rangel, Technical Secretary of the Coordinating Council for the Implementation of the Criminal Justice System, told reporters the new criminal justice system is currently available to 81.5 percent of the Mexico’s population and guaranteed that the June 18, effective date, all states will be ready for its implementation.

At a press conference, the Technical Secretary said that each states moves under its own planning schedule and that is why the implementation is inconsistent throughout the country.

She said the biggest challenge facing the new criminal system is the training of police in order to give them the basic knowledge needed to carry out their job. However, she was confident that the training would be complete by May 30.

Maria de los Angeles told reporters that currently there are more than 780 court rooms designed for oral arguments in the country, although the ideal is to have 1,200.
