Pornographic Website That Extorted Young People Shut Down in Mexico Agencia EFE

Mexican authorities shut down a website that posted erotic pictures of minors and extorted them in exchange for removing the photos, the Attorney General's Office, or PGR, reported.

Two people have been arrested so far for their association with the network operating in the southern states of Campeche, Yucatan and Quintana Roo, the head of the Fevimtra special prosecutor for crimes against women and people trafficking, Angela Quiroga, said in a message to the media.

"The arrested people were making this activity their main source of income," according to reports provided by the National Banking Commission, Quiroga said.

So far, the PGR has identified 106 victims. Those responsible for operating the website published photos and videos of the young people, listing their location and personal data, including telephone numbers, addresses and schools they attend.

The PGR began investigating the case after one of the victims discovered that pornographic photos she had exchanged with her boyfriend had been posted on the website.
