Mobile phone thefts remain the most frequent crime in Mexico, with 609.5 million devices reported stolen or lost in 2015, representing an increase of 37.8 percent over 2014, according to data from mobile operators and the National Telecommunications Association (Anatel), reported by El Sol de Mexico.
In the period 2012 to March 2016, a total of 1.70 billion mobile phones were reported stolen in the country, said Anatel CEO Gabriel Szekely.
At the same event, mobile operators announced joint coordinate action with the authorities on prevention and care during natural disasters. This is part of the 'We Care Mexico' project launched last year with the GSMA.
