Last week marked a year since the greatest gold robbery in Mexico, considered the fourth most important in the world since 1983, without detainees or accused so far.

On April 7, 2015, an armed group broke into the mine El Gallo 1, located in the mountainous area in the municipality of Mocorito, the state of Sinaloa, and took the cargo, valued at $8.4 million USD.

The Canadian operating company McEwen itself published the robbery in a communique on its web page.

The gold was still in 900 kilograms of an aquiferous concentrate, meaning that some processes to be able to market it were yet to be carried out.

One year after the robbery, Justice Prosecutor to Sinaloa Marco Antonio Higuera is confident that they are still able to find those responsible and present them before Justice, according to the newspaper Excelsior.
