Deepwater Horizon – Official Movie Teaser Trailer (Lionsgate Movies)
Deepwater Horizon is a film based on the devastating 2010 BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico which saw 4.9 million barrels of oil leak into the ocean as well as 11 workers killed. It was and still is one of the worst environmental disaster of the 21st century to be recorded.
Based on a New York Times article documenting the final hours of the Deepwater Horizon oil rig, an all star cast including Mark Wahlberg, Kurt Russell, Kate Hudson, John Malkovich has been assembled to portray this story on the big screen.
Not much is given away in the first trailer except for the theory behind the explosion as told by Wahlberg’s character’s daughter and a can of Coke. The film should see sustained suspense and effective survival storytelling as it’s directed by Lone Survivor’s Peter Berg.
