Governor of State of Chihuahua Faces Over 500 Death Threats After Security Crackdown Prensa Latina

The Governor of Chihuahua, César Duarte, said he has got over 500 death threats because he has "affected the interests of the organized crime" in that state of northern Mexico.

Duarte said there has been great progress in security in Chihuahua. In 29 months not a single kidnapping has been registered in Ciudad Juarez, which was formerly one of the world's most violent cities.

"Any phenomenon of violence occurred in this country is nowhere near what we went through in Juarez six of five years ago," he said referring to the high levels of violence, including feminicides that made Juarez famous locally and internationally.

"Chihuahua has made progress. We are leaving violence behind," he said.
