Police have been left red-faced after a video surfaced on Youtube allegedly showing one of their cars taking part in a race, the very street "sport" they are trying to stamp out.
The footage is alleged to feature a patrol car lining up against a privately-owned vehicle in the city center.
The incident, in Mexico City, came to light at the very time the Federal Police have launched a campaign against drag racing.
The video has been circulated on the social network sites and police have confirmed an investigation is underway, even though no faces are shown or any registration numbers.
