Mexico's Attorney General's Office has established a specialized investigation unit for torture crimes, a scourge that threatens human rights in Mexico.
The Attorney's Office will run, coordinate and supervise the investigations of acts of torture attributable to public servants or government officials, any federal power or autonomous institutions.
The Specialized Unit for the Investigation of Torture Acts will have all the material, financial and human resources for its proper functioning and operation, adds the Attorney's Office statement published by the Diario de la Federación journal.
