Cluster Call Centers estimates there are 8,000 deportees from the United States working in Baja California, who make up 70% of the personnel in call center enterprises in the region.

The president of Cluster, Jorge Olmos, said that according to the results of studies made in the sector, most of the employees were repatriated or at some time had lived in the United States.

"This condition makes us more attractive for American industries which come seeking call centers services in Baja California, they are preferred places for the use of English," he said.

Before, the process of hiring these people was complicated because those repatriated lacked documents, he said, which included birth certificates, medical insurance and an identification so as to register the individual.

However, this process has been eased in the past months by efforts of the State Council for Attention to Migrants, he pointed out, and there are many success stories in the cluster.

He called for the creation of a commission focused on the process of the transition of migrants so they can be channeled to potential jobs in the call center sector at the time they are deported at El Chaparral.
