A Mexican judge has ordered three more officials to stand trial for their alleged role in the prison break of convicted drug kingpin Joaquin "El Chapo" (Shorty) Guzman, who escaped from a maximum-security penitentiary on July 11, the federal Attorney General's Office said Thursday.

The Mexico City-based federal judge issued the ruling on the basis of evidence filed by the AG's office, that institution said in a bulletin.

The three unidentified officials were detained last week.

On Sept. 18, the AG's office announced the arrest of 13 officials for their alleged role in the escape of the Sinaloa cartel leader from the Altiplano I prison in the central state of Mexico.

The detainees included Celina Oseguera, who had been serving as the national coordinator of the federal prison system.

Also arrested were the prison's warden and techical director of operations at the time of the drug lord's flight through a tunnel: Valentin Cardenas, who was ordered to stand trial on Monday, and Librado Carmona Garcia.

All of those officials were fired after the prison break.
