Mexico Gambling Inching Its Way to Regulation Tanya L - Gambler's Report

It seems that it’s taking forever to approve gambling laws in Mexico. All hope isn’t lost though, at least with a couple industry experts. Passing new regulations can take some time, but with new legislations passing the lower house in 2014 hopes were that the process of getting it approved and passed through all proper levels would have happened already.

The reasons for the delay are due to other priorities that came first. There is one believer that there is still time to get land-based and online gambling regulated. Miguel Angel Ochoa Sanchez believes that by December there will be some kind of regulation approved and ready to implement by next year.

Mr. Sanchez, Mexico’s current President of the Mexican Gaming Association, stated in a radio interview this week that online gambling and the illegality of it be addressed by regulatory laws. He also commented that illegal operators who have entered the country, are taking away close to $200 million a year from government tax and licensing fees.
