Manlio Fabio Beltrones, who was running unopposed, has been elected the new chairman of Mexico's governing Institutional Revolutionary Party, or PRI.
Carolina Monroy was elected secretary-general, the party's national elections committee said Monday.
The Beltrones-Monroy ticket was the only one in the running for the two top party posts.
"We came here to comply with the rules and at the time set to submit the documents covering all the requirements for participating in the election for secretary-general and chairman of the National Executive Committee," Beltrones said while registering his candidacy on Monday.
