Historic Day in Cuba: American Flag Flying at Embassy in Havana (ABC News)
The main newspapers in Mexico reflected yesterday on the hoisting of the American flag at its embassy in Havana, headed by Secretary of State John Kerry.
The newspaper El Universal in its online version presented headlines like 'US Flag Flies in Cuba for the first time in 54 years', 'Cuban TV airs live US flag ceremony' and 'Key Events in the US-Cuba relations'.
For its part, the newspaper La Jornada highlights Kerry's visit, who led the ceremony of hoisting of the American flag in Havana.
Three pages of La Jornada, under the title: 'Havana-Washington, the difficult relationship', approached from different angles this historic event, and the restoration of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Excelsior also reviews the ceremony at the US embassy in the Havana Malecon and stresses that Kerry is the first Secretary of State of the United States to visit the Caribbean island in 70 years.
