Finally July has ended. If things continue down this path, they will worsen the crisis that is underway. The only issue where a position was established and action was taken - if, of course, there aren’t counter orders - was regarding Section 22 of the Teachers Union [Oaxaca section of National Union of Education Workers. SNTE, controlled by the National Coordinating Committee of Education Workers, CNTE]. Apart from this, the month was marked with misfortune, uncertainty and distress that shook the country, but did not move the administration.
Every day the grinding gears of a regime that has nothing more to offer were heard. One grind silenced by the next, but the evidence of the grinding exposed the series of problems facing Mexico’s security, human rights, education, economics, finance, in short, the government ... worsening through indifference and insensitivity to corruption and poverty.
Relief would come from being sure that the crisis has bottomed out, but that’s not possible. The circumstances are such that the worst, now, is an uncontrollable variable.
